Congolese musician and refugee Thierry Inongi played this original piece titled "Refugee's Cry," in Kampala, Uganda in January 2011. In April 2011 this song was played live and broadcasted nationally in Uganda during an interview with members of The Paper Airplanes Project, hosted by Uganda Broadcasting Company (UBC) .

                    "Anyone can become
                    a refugee.
                    Why not?"
                    - Francis Flade Nemlin

Originally started as an international writing project focused on the advocacy of African refugees displaced within Africa, the Paper Airplanes Project has expanded to address these needs through working in partnership with refugee communities in Africa. We believe that needs must be heard before they can be met, and we also aim to provide a forum for the experiences of refugees to be shared internationally through a variety of mediums. Learn more about how we started HERE.
